Authorities Not Ready for Concessions to Opposition

After releasing a “trial balloon” that new elections for the Belgrade Assembly will be held on April 28, to which the opposition reacted strongly and announced a possible boycott, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced that the vote will be on June 2 after all. Vucic, however, did not say a single word about the date of local elections in 87 cities, towns and municipalities in Serbia, which could take place in June or July. The decision on the date of those elections could have a crucial impact on the regularity of new elections for the Belgrade Assembly.
