Last week’s appointment of Aleksandar Timofejev as NIN’s new editor-in-chief reopened the issue of media freedoms in Serbia, as the choice has unveiled Aleksandar Vucic’s wish to take over as many media houses that are not inclined to support his regime. Timofejev, a prominent journalist who has kept a low-profile over the past nine years, is a good pick to conceal the “takeover” of NIN.
