Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on April 28 that the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers would decide whether to admit Kosovo to the organization on May 16 and May 17, and that the vote would most likely take place on the 17th, but stressed that the outcome was not certain and that "Serbia will put up a fight."

In an appearance on Prva TV, the Serbian minister said that voting would not necessarily take place immediately, as France and Italy had voiced reservations, while Hungary was against.

"We have devoted the utmost political attention to this issue," he said.

Dacic said Kosovo was an artificial political project, and an unsuccessful one, remarking that it unilaterally declared independence in 2008, and had yet to achieve full recognition in 2024. He described this as "a debacle for Western politics."
