Opposition on the Sidelines

Several weeks ahead of the elections, the Serbian opposition is in a position where it practically has to build some kind of organization or platform from scratch. The possibilities of something like that actually happening in a short time are pretty much non-existent, while the process of dissolving of opposition parties that started a long time ago will continue in the meantime. The Democratic Party, once the leading political force in the country, is going through an extremely deep crisis, the outcome of which is difficult to predict. Intending to resist pressure from opponents in the party, party leader Zoran Lutovac had scheduled a Steering Committee session for May 31 but that session will apparently be pushed back until Election Day, June 21.
