The upcoming local elections in Zajecar and Kosjeric will be a big test for both the authorities and their opponents, embodied by the rebelling students and the opposition parties and movements. Those elections could show whether the ruling Serbian Progressive Party’s popularity has been shaken by months of protests and blockades, but also what the effects of association of students and the opposition are. The outcome of those elections could significantly influence further developments in the country, which is why they are attracting almost as much attention as parliamentary elections.
