The results of the recent local elections in Zajecar and Kosjeric hint at “hot” political months ahead for Serbia, as they have shown that the difference between the regime spearheaded by Aleksandar Vucic and its opponents has been greatly reduced compared to December 2023. Nonetheless, the regime can be happy with the results, too – both because its popularity has not decreased too much and because it is obviously still able to secure sufficient votes for a win, of course with the unpermitted methods it has been known for in the past.
