The news that four members of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) have announced their resignations only two days after being appointed, came as a surprise to many and appeared to be a rather extravagant step. For those who have been following the entire process more closely, though, the news was actually a logical consequence that had been announced several times with regard to everything that preceded the election of the REM Council. A better understanding of the events tied to the election of REM’s Council requires a retrospective look at the past two plus years.
