While the authorities claim that Serbia’s budget for 2026 is a follow-up to the economic and fiscal policies implemented over the past few years, with an emphasis on growing capital investments and support to the country’s citizens and economy, the opposition and experts argue that the 2026 budget plan is nontransparent and that priority is given to corrupt deals that those in power and businesspeople connected to them can benefit from, mostly the projects connected to the international specialized exhibition EXPO 2027.
