The news that U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner has dropped plans to build a luxury complex on the site of the severely damaged Yugoslav Army General Staff buildings is a serious blow to the regime led by Aleksandar Vucic, who has announced retaliation against all who contributed to the decision. Kushner’s pulling out of the project probably isn’t a result of civil protests, but rather of a desire for the U.S. president not to be the target of public attacks over connections with the controversial project.
