As court proceedings continue in the Jovanjica case, dubbed after the estate where a marijuana plantation was discovered on the outskirts of Belgrade in 2019, continue, last week saw another scandal involving the discovery of a large quantity of marijuana, which the opposition public is also linking to the Aleksandar Vucic administration. There is also the belief in the opposition public that an investigation connected to last week’s seizure of five tons of marijuana in the village of Konjuh near Krusevac is one of the reasons for the adoption of disputed amendments to judicial laws, with the goal of reining in the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime.
