Two Blows for Vucic

Last week’s EU and Western Balkans summit in Montenegro is probably not going to be remembered fondly by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. Montenegro’s fast-approaching admittance into the EU was promoted at the summit, which does not suit Vucic, while German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s clear messages about Serbia’s Euro-integration were not favorable for him either. Vucic is also not likely to be happy about how an operation involving the sending of 87 “loyalists” to Tivat on a charter flight ended, since they were banned entry by the Montenegrin authorities and sent back to Belgrade.
