Aleksandar Vucic’s resignation from the office of Serbian president, which he submitted on Sept. 27, most likely means that he is confident he will become prime minister after the Oct. 25 general election, i.e. that he has options planned for any post-election scenario. Vucic used his resignation as an occasion to pardon 49 individuals, with the identities of 37 of them still unknown to the public. He thereby aimed to achieve several objectives.
