Serbian Political Scene between Elections and Boycott

In spite of criticism and resistance by the ruling bloc and international representatives, Serbia’s leading opposition parties and coalitions keep insisting that the country’s regular elections next spring should be boycotted.

The motive behind the Serbian government campaign against the boycott is that the authorities want another election triumph against their opponents, capitalizing on full control over the mainstream media and literally all institutions, in order to keep marginalizing them through public institutions. What Brussels and Washington want is a fully functional, legal and legitimate parliament in place next year, when a breakthrough is expected in Serbia’s negotiations with Kosovo.
