There is an increasing amount of time and energy Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic needs to waste on curtailing the damage wracked by a series of scandals and wrong moves involving his closest allies and cabinet members. The president usually speaks up after a scandal becomes public, which is why it can never be completely annulled, but harms his government instead. His interventions are increasingly frequent, which means that a secure grip on the system no longer exists. Weaknesses have surfaced of the regime President Vucic and his Serbian Progressive Party have been building for eight years, relying on party controls over basically all institutions and public authorities in the country.
