Third Round of Talks on Election Conditions Wraps Up

The third round of dialogue between the Serbian authorities and the opposition on election conditions has resulted in some concessions, but not in an essential change of positions. The ruling bloc spearheaded by the Serbian Progressive Party has said that the election will, instead of in March, take place in May 2020, describing that as a major concession. The opposition parties that have announced an election boycott replied that this did not meet their demands, while the EU representatives mediating the negotiations reiterated that the election conditions needed to be conspicuously improved, but also that a boycott was not a good solution.
