Belgrade-Podgorica Relations on a Downward Slope

A downturn in the Serbian-Montenegro ties went deeper after at least one person was injured in minor incidents in Podgorica, in the evening on Jan. 27. The incidents happened during a welcome rally for Montenegro’s water polo team that had clinched bronze at the 2020 European Water Polo Championship in Budapest. That same evening Serbia’s pro-government media reported that the Serbian Security and Information Agency would contact the National Security Service in Montenegro over a beating of a young man at the gathering in the Montenegrin capital.
