Kosovo Economy Minister Rozeta Hajdari said that Kosovo had gained energy independence after the European Network of Transmission System Operators  (ENTSO-E) had voted to allow Kosovo’s transmission system operator KOSTT to operate independently, portal KoSSev reported on April 21.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has said that that vote has facilitated Kosovo’s full energy independence from Serbia, while outgoing Premier Albin Kurti has pointed to the other side of the agreement: a new overhead line  Kosovo-Albania operating as a single energy bloc.

According to the portal, Serbia has not reacted to the matter since November 2018, when President Aleksandar Vucic described the blocking of this decision as a small victory for Serbia, but more important than blocking Kosovo’s application to join INTERPOL.
