Politicologist Boban Stojanovic has said that tensions in society would not be lowered after elections, because the opposition that was running in it did not represent a large portion of the electorate and added that he was convinced that Vucic's next challenger would come from the ranks of the part of the opposition that is boycotting the vote as opposed to the part of the opposition that is running in the election.
In an interview with the June 4 edition of Vreme, Stojanovic said that the lack of political discussion was key to tensions in society along with the fact that it was not being led in institutions where it belonged. "Today we do not have a political struggle without the usual political means - which are, elections, parliament, the podium and the media. A politician's power lies in the podium and television studio, where they can present themselves to the public," he said.
Stojanovic said that the reason for that was also the media with its "unbelievable and above average presentation of the authorities and the satanization and brutalizing of the opposition." "The second thing is the occupation of the public sector where the government has for years been dividing people into suitable and unsuitable persons, while the suitable go on to create a serious voting machinery," he said.
