The president of the European Council, Charles Michel, stated on June 25 that progress in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue was needed urgently, stressing that the European Union expected the dialogue to resume in Brussels already in July.

The recent appointment of Ambassador Miroslav Lajcak as EU's special representative for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue demonstrates that the EU was focused on this dialogue, the resumption of which has been planned for July 2020 in Brussels, Charles Michel stated after meeting with Kosovo Premier Avdulah Hoti in Brussels.

Michel welcomed the fact that Hoti's first visit abroad was to Brussels, and stressed the urgent need for progress in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

Commenting on the indictment against Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, Charles Michel stated that it was important that the Special Chambers and Special Prosecutor's Office were able to do their jobs independently, without any outside interference.
