President Aleksandar Vucic on July 14 sent a letter to his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron wishing him a happy National Day of France and expressing the hope that Serbia would enjoy Paris’ support on its EU path, to the benefit of peace and stability in the Western Balkans.

“I wish you a happy National Day, the day when France celebrates the ever right of a human being to freedom, equality and brotherhood. Every July 14, we remember, that also for us, the citizens of Serbia, the French values remain a lasting example,” Vucic wrote.

Vucic further said he expected the ties between the Serbian and French peoples, which had been unbreakable in the most difficult times in history and which had faced many challenges, would be in full swing now, according to a release from the Presidency.

“Serbia and France still share the values that a modern Europe rests upon, and I am convinced that we will have your support in achieving our European future, to the benefit of peace and stability in the Western Balkans,” Vucic said in the letter, noting that “the strength of France is also the strength of Europe.”
