Tirana Institute of Political Studies director Mentor Beqa said on Nov. 23 that tensions in the region were rising due to Serbia meddling in the inner affairs of countries in the region chiefly Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

In an interview with BETA during a conference called Balkans 2030 - Challenges to Peace, Security and Stability in the Balkans, Beqa said that at first glance it appeared that tensions between Serbia and Kosovo were growing after a lengthy dialog that had produced no real results and was dubious and often rejected by institutions on both sides.

"There was a worsening of relations between Kosovo and Serbia especially after Albin Kurti came to power in Kosovo, but also tensions, or what we call increased Serbian meddling in the internal affairs of countries in the region, especially Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina with regard to the case of Republika Srpska," Beqa said.

He said that different countries in the region had different views on Serbia's attempts to interfere in their internal affairs. He said that In Bosnia and Herzegovina there were threats to its territorial integrity with regard to RS while in Kosovo Serbia was threatening its territorial integrity especially in municipalities with a Serb majority.
