Prime Minister Ana Brnabic on Aug 29 said that the arrests of the suspects employed with media and marketing company Direct Media and state public broadcaster RTS did not represent “political repression, nor there were political announcements of the probe,” as everything had been done “professionally.” She encouraged all to “continue working in compliance with the rule of law.”

“The police, judiciary and prosecutor’s office must do their jobs without any pressure and I am telling them not to fear Dragan Djilas or his political performances, which represent a form of pressure,” Brnabic told TV Pink.

Brnabic further said that she was the prime minister and that the case did not fall within her remit, but that she had encouraged the relevant bodies “to be brave enough to do their job and to protect the rule of law.”

According to her, Serbia is not a country where a probe into someone’s assets is conducted for political reasons.

“However, Serbia does not accept not to investigate people only for being political opponents and because they will later describe it as a political fight,” Brnabic noted.
