The U.S. calls on its allies and partners to abandon transactions with Russia which could lead to U.S. sanctions, the Voice of America was told by the State Department on Feb. 25 after the delivery of the Russian Pantsir missile system to Serbia.

"We call on all of our allies and partners to refrain from transactions with Russia which could lead to sanctions according to the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act," the State Department said in a written response to the Voice of America which had asked for a comment on the delivery of the first portion of the Russian Pantsir S surface-to-air missile system to Serbia from Russia.

"In discussions with senior government officials we voiced our concern with Serbia's purchase of Russian military equipment, including its purchase of the Pantsir system," a spokesperson for State Department said.
