Zijin Bor Copper company has began its mining operations in Novo Cerovo copper mine, third in this mining complex, whose capacity is estimated to be 2.5 million of tons of ore per year, and with exploitation life of seven years, the company announced on March 9.

Hu Shaohua, the assistant to the Zijin GM, said that the company expects the first quantities of copper to be produced early in June, adding that since October 2019, they have continually been upgrading the mining production process.

“In accordance with the Serbian legislation, having obtained all the permits and operating licenses, [we have constructed] new access roads to the mine, brought in a lot of new equipment and employed around 200 young people,” Shaohua said.

The reopening of the Cerovo mine, Hu Shauhua added, represents a turning point for the company and its desire to boost its copper production, calling it a considerable progress in the first quarter of 2020.
