A team of expert advisors of the Slovenian government, IMAD, has halved its GDP growth projection for 2020, after it announced 3% growth last fall, Economy Minister Zdravko Pocivalsek said in parliament on March 13.

Marjan Sarec’s outgoing government was notified on March 13 of the IMAD’s spring forecasts, at its most likely last session before handing over office to Janez Jansa’s cabinet, where Pocivalsek will retain the position of economy minister, Slovenian news agency STA reports.

Last September, this government macroeconomic think tank predicted 3% growth for the Slovenian economy in 2020. A slight correction of the forecast for 2020 was expected, given that the IMAD, according to previous data unveiled on Feb. 28, estimated Slovenian GDP growth for 2019 at 2.4%, having projected last fall that it would be 2.8%.
