Milorad Pupovac (BETAPHOTO/HINA/Tomislav PAVLEK)

A Pragmatic and Patient Politician

President of the Independent Democratic Serb Party in Croatia Milorad Pupovac is a pragmatic politician who has managed to survive for two decades now on Croatia’s turbulent political scene. He is known as the informal leader of Croatia’s Serb minority and has managed to cement this position in the past several years.

He found himself in the public spotlight in Croatia, but also in Serbia and other countries of the region, after a senior party official, Boris Milosevic, attended an Aug. 5 commemoration event on the anniversary of military Operation Storm which ended in the expulsion of nearly 200,000 Serbs from Croatia.
