A False Alarm or Something More?

Last week’s appointment of seasoned telecommunications expert Vladica Tintor as director of United Group in Serbia caused an outcry in the domestic public and placed the question of the survival of the independent media, chiefly N1 TV, in the foreground. Although United Group is a standalone entity in Serbia relative to the United Media company in Serbia, which manages independent media outlets, the step has alarmed the opposition public and given the pro-government part of the public a reason to rejoice.
