Ugljesa Mrdic, the chairman of the Serbian Parliament’s Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government, has become one of the most visible members of the Serbian Progressive Party over the past two months. The reason is simple: Aleksandar Vucic has tasked him with leading a government campaign against prominent prosecutors who have escaped their control – the campaign that, given its far-reaching consequences, has arguably become the most important political issue in the country in recent weeks.
