Balint Pastor (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)

Balint Pastor, president of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians and a member of the Serbian parliament, is now in an uncomfortable position, as he strongly supported Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban, swept away by Peter Magyar’s landslide victory on April 12. Pastor’s party had been working very closely with Orban for years. The outcome of the parliamentary vote in Hungary brings to the fore the course of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, the leading party of the Hungarian national minority in Serbia, which has been an important actor in Aleksandar Vucic’s ruling coalition since 2014.
