Transport operator Milomir Jacimovic, who has become one of the symbols of resistance to Aleksandar Vucic’s government over the past 12 months, faced the most radical form of persecution to date last week – one of the buses he had used for months to transport students to protests was set on fire. Jacimovic has been the embodiment of the defiant segment of Serbian society, as he refuses to stop driving students despite constant exposure to various forms of harassment, which the authorities have been employing not only to thwart his actions, but also to intimidate other opponents.
