Vladimir Arsenijevic (BETAPHOTO/MILAN ILIC)
Award-winning writer Vladimir Arsenijevic was beaten in central Belgrade on July 11 at the site where a commemoration for the victims of the Srebrenica genocide was due to be held. The attack on Arsenijevic demonstrates the widening divide between the civic-minded and nationalist segments of Serbian society over the genocide in Srebrenica, and reveals the true attitude of President Aleksandar Vucic’s government toward the crime.
