A Man to Keep the Status Quo

The members of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media’s Council unanimously chose Stevica Smederevac, who is close to Aleksandar Vucic’s administration, as president of the body last week. Although the Council’s four independent members voted for Smederevac, his biography and the body’s first decision – not to extend oversight to the pro-government Informer TV station, show that the new body is not going to bring essential changes in the media sphere, and that it will continue to operate for the benefit of the Vucic administration.
