Democratic Party’s leader Zoran Lutovac said on March 5 that his party has not lost its political identity within the Alliance for Serbia, adding that it has a “clear and unambiguous” stand on all important political and social issues.

“The anti-migrant campaign is absolutely unacceptable both to me and the Democratic Party, and it is also harmful for the Alliance’s joint campaign. The Democratic Party is carefully considering the question of migrants, in all its complexity, as it is a humanitarian, security-related, and economic matter, i.e. a development issue,” said Lutovac for Vreme magazine.

According to him, the purpose of the Alliance for Serbia is “not for all to agree on the question of migrants or for them to harmonize their programs.”

“We’ve entered the Alliance to fight for free and fair elections and the normalization of Serbia. The most important thing right now, and our greatest responsibility toward the citizens, is to put our differences aside, not to raise any side issues, and to, as a wide front, first of all defend our right to fair and free elections, and the right of citizens to be informed truthfully, comprehensively and timely,” said Lutovac.
