Sabac Mayor and president of the Together for Serbia party Nebojsa Zelenovic announced on March 5 that deciding to participate in local elections in the town was hard but that the idea behind it was to preserve Sabac as an island of freedom, like Paracin and that his decision was good for Sabac and for Serbia.

"I do not at all feel responsible for anything that is happening in or could happen in the future regarding the Alliance [for Serbia]. The decision was hard, but I reached it with a clear head and heart and after pondering it and lengthy talks with the people who have an influence in the city and attorneys, lawyers, businesspeople and students and everyone that we could talk to," Zelenovic said in an interview with the latest edition of the NIN weekly.

He also said that he had never lied to anyone about participating in local elections in Sabac, as well as that "my conscience is also clear because I did not bring this decision on my own but with the citizens of Sabac."

According to Zelenkovic, the Together for Serbia party will use the next two months for intense communication with the citizens of Sabac.
