Thaci Talks New Cabinet With Big Five, EU Ambassadors

Thaci calls elections for mayors of four Serb-majority towns

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci met on March 30 with ambassadors to Kosovo from the Big Five and the European Union to brief them on the steps to take after the government was dissolved, stressing that Kosovo needed a cabinet that would bring stability and greater political and civic unity.

According to a press release issued by his office, Thaci told the ambassadors that, after the Kosovo Assembly returned a vote of no confidence against the cabinet on March 25, he would take steps in accordance with the constitution, law and the duties of the president.

He said he would consult with all parties in the Assembly to hear their proposals and advice on what path to take, with a view constitutional and legal prescriptions.

He said, as president, he would make the decision on the best option to exit the situation after the government received a vote of no confidence.

Thaci stressed that Kosovo needed a cabinet to bring stability, greater political and civil unity, to be inclusive and with a clear Euro-Atlantic orientation, the press release read.

The Big Five is the U.S., Germany, United Kingdom, France and Italy.
