On March 31 Serbian Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali announced that the government had prepared a EUR5.1 billion aid package for helping businesses and citizens during the state of emergency and virus epidemic and that the package equaled 11 percent of this year's GDP.

He told a news conference that the state would shoulder the bulk of the economic crisis created as a result of the epidemic.

He explained that the measures consisted of direct aid to employees, followed by tax cuts and payments of EUR100 in direct aid to all adults.

Mali also said that President Aleksandar Vucic was supposed to unveil the anti-crisis measures but that he had not been feeling well since March 31 and that he would address the nation within 48 hours.
