The Dveri leader, Bosko Obradovic, said on May 18 that the type of protest he had chosen, a hunger strike outside the Serbian parliament building, was "the only way to draw national and international attention to what's happening in Serbia," promising to continue the protest, together with Ivan Kostic.

MP Obradovic said at a press conference outside the parliament that the reason behind his protest and hunger strike was "a violent attempt by the authorities to hold an election on June 21 in a non-democratic way, against public health standards and contrary to the constitution." "If that's something we fare supposed to put up with in silence, our sacrifice is worthless," Obradovic said.

The opposition leader said the media misinterpreted his words that he had "addressed the European Union," explaining that he had approached the European Parliament instead. "It's a big difference. The European Parliament represents all political options, the Eurosceptics included. The parliament mirrors the European political landscape, and it is our duty to let them know what's going on in Serbia," Obradovic said.
