The European Union (EU) has taken a united stand on the frameworks and principles to be followed during talks between Kosovo and Serbia, and the content of a final agreement must be in conformity with the international law, the laws and values of the Union, says a spokesperson for the European Commission, Peter Stano.

"Statements by High Representative Josep Borrell and the EU special representative for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, have been consistent and in line with our long-standing positions. Any other interpretation is incorrect. Borrell has consistently defended the stance that Serbia and Kosovo should resolve all open issues without delay - this is a priority for the EU, and should therefore be one for them, too," Stano said in a May 25 interview with the Pristina-based Koha Ditore newspaper.

Borrell had said earlier that the possibility of a territorial swap between Kosovo and Serbia was the matter for the two parties to decide, whereas Lajcak dismissed the possibility.
