Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali announced on May 25 that banks started to pay out EUR100 to every citizens who had accepted the government's one-off payment either by registering online on the Serbian Treasury's website or over the phone, explaining that 500,000 payments would be made daily.

"Registration ends on June 5, and those registering on June 5 will be paid until June 7," the minister said in an interview with the Happy TV, adding that four million people had applied for the one-off payment. "It's a vast majority, and clearly only a small number of people have failed to register."

Mali said that nearly two million people had received the payment, pensioners and welfare recipients making up the majority of those. The finance minister explained the move was designed as "economically oriented aid," because the EUR100 the citizens got would "re-enter economic flows."
