In the last 24 hours one more person died from consequences of coronavirus infection in Serbia, bringing the epidemic death toll to 244, read a press release on June 1.

The Health Ministry reported on its website that 18 new coronavirus cases had been confirmed, out of the 2,315 tested in the last 24 hours. The death rate is 2.13 percent.

There are 468 coronavirus patients in hospitals, nine of them on ventilators. The number of people who have recovered from the infection in Serbia is 6,726. So far 247,760 citizens have been tested and the virus was confirmed in 11,430 of them.

Public Health Institute Batut deputy director Darija Kisic Tepavcevic said on June 1 that there would be a second wave of the epidemic if the coronavirus "survives" on the southern hemisphere and returned, but that it was now known what needed to be done even without a vaccine.

Kisic Tepavcevic told Pink TV that the coronavirus epidemic would not hit so hard again, like it did for the first time this year, and that people should not panic when thinking about the very likely second wave.
