Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on June 10 that “in no election campaign so far” had the media been more open than they are today. Speaking for Pink TV, the president added that this is good for Serbia.

"It is interesting to note that some, who are complaining of not being present in the media, had higher ratings before they appeared on the RTS [public service] and some private TVs", said Vucic, who is also the leader of the Serbian Progressive Party.

Commenting on the decision of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media to ban his party’s promotional video, the president said that there was no abuse of children in the video and that the essence of “such criticism” was to prevent his public appearances.

Elaborating on the video in which he speaks with a little girl, Vucic added that this was “a nice spot, with a positive message, that offended no one.” He also said that Progressive party’s videos are banned, while different rules apply to “the other side.”

"It is a hypocritical approach, but we showed respect for the decision of state bodies. Our people wanted to protest against it, but we haven’t said a word. The essence is how to ban me from appearing somewhere. There is only one person that bothers them; the people understand everything", Vucic said.
