The Ministry of Health announced on its web-site on June 24 that samples of 7,784 persons were tested in Serbia in the past 24 hours, and that the presence of the corona virus was confirmed among 143 of them.

There were no fatalities in the observed period and the overall fatality rate is currently at 1.99 percent. There are 861 active cases and 21 people are on ventilators. Since the start of the corona virus epidemic in Serbia, samples of 359,069 people have been tested, with 13,235 positive cases.

The deputy director of the Institute for Public Health "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut", Darija Kisic Tepavcevic, stated on June 24 that this was not the second wave of the corona virus epidemic, but "the second peak" of the first wave.

Kisic Tepavcevic told TV B92 that the first wave was on the downward path, but had turned back upwards, and that she hoped it would not grow back to the amplitude of the "first peak." She stated that the infection had been registered among 91 university students by June 24 and that they were in isolation. She reiterated that the majority of the newly infected were younger people.
