Serbian Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin on July 6 toured a makeshift military hospital in Novi Pazar and handed over 5,000 pairs of gloves, 5,000 masks and 1,000 protective suits.

He said that the Serbian Armed Forces had set up the field hospital and done everything "for the citizens of Novi Pazar, Sjenica, Tutin, this whole area, to feel safe and to get appropriate health care."

"At this time there are 40 members of the Ministry of Defense here, our military medical team. They are from Novi Sad, Nis, Kragujevac, Belgrade," the Ministry quoted Vulin as saying. He pointed out that he could understand all criticism, but that, "I absolutely reject as the worst and most despicable lie that any citizen of Serbia is treated differently because of their faith or nationality."

Commander of the military field hospital, Lt. Col. Predrag Krstic, said that the hospital opened on July 5 for treating medium to severely ill patients with COVID-19. The hospital capacity is 110 beds, with the potential for expansion to 170. There were 45 patients in the hospital on July 6.
