As of July 16, travelers coming from Serbia will not be allowed to enter Bulgaria, says an announcement posted on the website of the Serbian Embassy in Bulgaria.

Bulgaria has introduced a temporary ban on entry for everyone coming from Serbia, regardless of their nationality, which will be in effect from July 16 until July 31.

The decision, made due to the worsening of the epidemiological situation in Serbia, applies to all border crossings, and all types of traffic – by air, sea, rail, or road. Only those transiting through Bulgaria on their way back to Serbia are exempt from the measure.

According to the same announcement, transits are allowed only in cases of essential travel, when the immediate leaving of Bulgarian territory is guaranteed.

The Bulgarian news agency Novinite has reported that the ban also applies to travelers coming from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and Turkey.

The European Union, of which Bulgaria is a member, decided on July 14 to remove Serbia from the list of epidemiologically safe countries wherefrom non-essential travel is allowed.
