Epidemioglist Predrag Djuric has said that the Crisis Headquarters for curbing COVID-19 is a screen for "bringing certain decisions."

In an interview with the July 23 edition of Vreme, he said that, by avoiding to confront the authorities, the Crisis Headquarters "is inadequately informing citizens on the epidemic " and "has seriously lost its credibility."

"Citizens can see very clearly that members of the Crisis Headquarters are avoiding giving statements that could place government representatives in a negative context," Djuric said and added that in the past period the Crisis Headquarters had passed decisions that were almost a concession to the authorities, and that its goal was to create the impression that "the pandemic is behind us, that it has been beaten, that is, to create a semblance of normalcy."

Novi Sad epidemiologist Predrag Djuric earlier taught at the Queen Maragaret University in Edinburg and was in charge of the Doctors Without Borders' unit for operative research in Brussels and Luxembourg, and is currently leading an EU aid project for Ukraine which has the goal of enhancing its public healthcare system.
