The People's Party leader, Vuk Jeremic, said on Aug. 26 that when the European Union (EU) decided to speak to Serbian power wielders in a language similar to that used for their Belarusian peers, change of government would follow soon in Serbia.

"Belarus is slightly different from Serbia. What's similar is that it's an area of interest for more than one international actor - the West and Russia. Yet the balance of power is different. Russia's influence is dominant in Belarus, while the Union's prevails in Serbia. It's easier to use tough words when you are not the key actor," Jeremic said at a press conference in Cacak.

The opposition party leader said it's important that elections should lead to a change of government. "We do not advocate a revolutionary change or revolutionary justice, but rather a peaceful and institutional change. We can change government by taking part in a free election, and achieve justice through observance of laws and courts," Jeremic said.
