Former Serbian ombudsman Sasa Jankovic told Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in an open letter on Aug. 30 that he had understood the message sent to him through Kosovo and Metohija Office head Marko Djuric and in videos broadcast on regime-controlled TV, adding that the same players earlier addressed Oliver Ivanovic in the same way, only for Djuric to later wind up lighting a candle over his grave.

"I have warned you in the most well-meaning spirit that Kosovo is slipping through Serbia's fingers as Serbia hasn't had any initiative in decades. If you don't have a plan and proposal to place before Europe and the U.S. and if you continue to "negotiate" like this, the Kosovo Albanians won't have anything more to ask for because they will have already received everything even without "an ultimate solution." There will be nothing left for the Serbs in Kosovo either, or for the Serbian state," Jankovic wrote.

He added that there was no more Serbian judiciary in Kosovo, nor telecommunications, nor many other things, although customs were still there, and asked Vucic how he planned to protect all Serbs, not just "his," in a territory over which he has no control, when the countries where he was going to negotiate, which have all recognized Kosovo, do not even know what we want, other than not wanting what the Albanians do.
