The Serbian minister for European integration, Jadranka Joksimovic, met on Sept. 30 with German Ambassador Thomas Schieb and discussed the process of Serbia's accession to the European Union, in the context of Germany's current EU presidency.

They also discussed the upcoming Progress Report of the European Commission about Serbia and the further improvement of bilateral relations, the Ministry has stated.

Schieb reiterated that, within the framework of its EU presidency, Germany was advocating the process of European integration of the region, that his country was firmly in favor of cooperation and reconciliation in the Western Balkans and that it supported Serbia on the path towards EU membership.

He stated that, even as the presiding country of the EU, Germany was monitoring the implementation of all reforms in the fields that are important for Serbia's European path and that, as before, the decision on the opening of new negotiation chapters would be made on the basis of the evaluation in the Progress Report about reforms in the field of the rule of law.
