The European Parliament's rapporteur for Serbia, Vladimir Bilcik, said on Oct. 12 that the organization was ready to continue mediating an inter-party dialogue in Serbia.

"Serbia belongs to Europe, culturally, politically, economically and geographically. I believed that for the country to join the community of European values would be in the best interest of Serbian citizens, not only for economic and social gain, but also for the community itself and the values it represents," Bilcik said in an interview for the portal Slobodna Rec (Free Word).

The EP rapporteur also said that "all stakeholders should work actively on communication and the importance of Serbia's place in the European Union (EU)." As an illustration of the Union's practical support to Serbia, Bilcik said that during the Covic-19 pandemic "the EU has been unmistakably by Serbia's side," providing humanitarian and economic assistance to its citizens.

The EP official said that a report on Serbia presented before the Parliament last week was explicit insofar as Serbia's reform roadmap had been drawn very clearly, underlining the four main pillars in the process - reforms, recovery, regional cooperation and reconciliation.
