416 people in Serbia were registered as newly infected with the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health announced on Oct. 22.

Two people died in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities since the start of the epidemic to 783. There are currently 515 people being treated in hospitals, 24 of whom on ventilators.

A total of 37,526 people have been infected in Serbia since the start of the epidemic.

No new epidemiological measures were brought at the meeting of the Crisis Headquarters for suppressing the covid-19 infectious disease. Instead, emphasis was laid on the stricter implementation of existing ones, immunologist Srdja Jankovic stated on Oct. 22.

In an interview to the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS), Jankovic described the current epidemiological situation in Serbia as "threatening." "We hope we can stop it," he said, adding that it could be done if everyone implemented the measures that are currently in effect.
